It has been so interesting to see the coastal design trend evolve over the last few years. We’re moving from very literal interpretations to more transitional coastal spaces that feel more organic, with beautiful natural wood tones and serene colors.
Today, I wanted to highlight some of these key ideas I have been seeing and share a glimpse of the gorgeous possibilities for a modern coastal bedroom.
1. Island Vibes
I love the laidback and breezy feeling you get from this fun coastal bedroom design. The minimalist approach is so fresh, with clean walls and an accent shiplap wall that adds just the right amount of texture.
The shiny wood floors and that huge, inviting bed are just perfect. What really brings in that island vibe for me are the glass dome pendant light, the solid wood night table, and those little frond accents. Just gorgeous!
2. Seaside Cottage
This coastal bedroom is so bright and welcoming! It’s also delightfully relaxing. I adore the classic charms happening here, like the rattan headboard and footboard and that sweet wicker bench.
And can we talk about that shell chandelier? So lovely. The white and textured rug brings in a dose of elegance that really finishes the charming look.
3. Shabby Chic Shiplap
I think this shabby chic accent wall is just perfect for that cool and relaxed coastal feeling. I’m a huge fan of the repurposed vibe, with its unmatched planks and imperfect finish that gives the room such an easy going atmosphere.
You could totally DIY this accent wall over a free weekend. Or, for a quicker route, just go for the wallpaper option!

What a way to delight your young sailors with an ocean themed bedroom! The bright and funky design includes wave inspired wallpaper, bunk beds, and a rope ladder going up to the top bunk.
Its white and blue theme is so refreshing and vibrant, which is just perfect for young, energetic kids.
