As life gets busier and our homes become our sanctuaries, the prospect of creating a beautiful space becomes more exciting. I have been thinking about all of the little updates I want to do this year, and our bathrooms are at the top of the list!
So this week I blew the dust off my inspiration boards, and thought I would share some amazing ideas for modern bathroom tile.
1. Mixed Hexagons
I love how you can use mixed tiles to create different zones in a room. Using white marble tiles on the walls looks so great, and then having the sea green ones on the floor is just perfect.
You can forget about being perfectly uniform; the creative way these tiles are placed gives the whole design such a charming and quirky feel.
2. Stacked Stone
Okay, can we talk about this look? It is so modern and beautiful, with just the right amount of edge.
That beautiful stacked stone accent wall is the perfect contrast to all the smooth surfaces you usually find in a modern bathroom. Just stunning!
3. Starred Hexagonal
Sometimes a modern bathroom needs a little dose of whimsy, and this is just the ticket. I love mixing up tile styles to get a look that is totally unique and striking.
The white tiles keep everything feeling clean and modern, but those starred hexagon tiles in that Prussian blue color? They add such a charming, quaint feeling to the whole space. Adorable!
4. Glacier Glass in Herringbone
I am just so drawn to glacier glass tiles; they feel so glossy, elegant, and modern. Choosing the right color can really highlight your key design elements.
These blue-grey glacier glass tiles, set in a herringbone pattern, bring just the right amount of color and cool vibe to this modern bathroom. Perfection!
5. Pastel Shades
You guys, colorful accent walls are so trendy right now. This cool and modern bathroom has a creatively tiled wall of pastels that I just love.
The tan and russet shades pick up the warmth from the wood accents, while those blues are the perfect complement to the dominant white interiors.
6. Floral Tiles
Florals are definitely making a comeback! These eye-catching floral tiles add so much color and charm to a modern bathroom.
I love how they are complemented by wood accents and clean white interiors. It all feels so feminine, fun, and colorful!
7. Weathered Wood
I am a huge fan of using wood elements as accents in minimalist and modern spaces.
This posh bathroom has marble walls, silver accents, and a green wall encased in glass, and it all feels balanced by the warm and charming weathered wood flooring.
8. Blue Subway
This is classic subway wall tile, but with a modern shade of blue. The ashy shade of cobalt blue feels cool and bright at the same time.
It’s the perfect complement to the glass, chrome, white, and tan tones in the room.
9. Stained Glass Look
This colorful wall brings such a great measure of brightness and fun to an all white bathroom. The mosaic, made from triangle tiles in different hues, gives off a majestic stained glass look.
Not bad for a shower, right?!
10. A Terrazzo Floor
What a burst of color and style! The trendy millennial pink of the interiors gets punctuated with white accents and is just so perfectly complemented by the arresting, speckled terrazzo flooring.
So colorful and so very modern.
11. Marble Hex
Marble is such a classic bathroom element. It is luxurious, beautiful, and so elegant. You can upgrade a standard marble wall with these marble hex tiles.
The smaller tiles in this interesting shape will give your bathroom walls way more texture, more shades, and such intricate details.
12. Rock Tile Wall
Using textured tiles is such a great way to add definition and character to a bathroom. I just love the interesting rock tile wall in this smooth and cool bath of white, black, and several shades of grey.
The floor-to-ceiling window also helps keep the room feeling bright during the day.
13. Multi-Toned Vertical Stack
The narrow, vertical stacked tile look for a bathroom wall is totally the rage. You can upgrade the look by using multi-toned tiles like these to create some really interesting patterns and details.
14. Two-Toned Triangles
So cool, elegant, and minimalist. The unfussy geometric details of these tiles are both modern and totally fascinating.
I love how the random placement of the tiles creates an interesting and colorful pattern. Just gorgeous!
15. Pebble Accent
This is such an ultra-modern bathroom design. It features sleek grey tiles, chrome fittings, glass, and a very contemporary pebble accent.
The black stones are a perfect match for the edgy, modern vibe of the design.
16. Beautiful Grey
This grey minimalist bathroom is so modern, sleek, and cool! Silver, white, and blue accents bring in little points of interest, while the overall grey tone keeps the room feeling relaxing and comforting.
And can we talk about those modern elements, like the strategically built-in shelves? Love!
17. Random Hexagons
This black, white, and grey modern bathroom is so far from the boring stereotype of minimalist design.
The random placement of the tiles and the infusion of printed ones completely transformed this modern design into a space that feels fun, special, and unique. I am here for it!
18. Pink Diamonds
The trendy millennial pink shade is the perfect complement to modern grey tones.
This bathroom features a contemporary bare concrete finish, and it is matched with this chic and modern pink diamond tiling. Just gorgeous!
19. Metallic Tile Mosaic
Talk about edgy, trendy, and stunning. This is that posh accent you need to really impress.
I think this would be great for a powder room, a guest bedroom bath, or even the master bathroom bath. So glam!
20. Rustic Bricks
Adding bricks or even brick-inspired tiles to your bathroom gives the room such a warm, rustic touch. It really shakes off any dullness or coldness from a modern bathroom.
This space effectively combines modern elements like smooth tiles and neutral colors with charming accents. I adore the brick wall, vintage faucets, and those plants in recycled containers.
21. Mixed Herringbone
Can’t decide between cool marble and warm wood tiles? You can get them both in this interesting and exciting mix of tile materials.
The herringbone pattern also adds so much texture and character to the room.
22. Uneven Grey Hexagons
Uneven tiling is such a great technique for providing added texture and character to your bathroom.
The uneven setting of this hexagon tile wall really highlights each tile’s unique pattern and texture. The way light and shadow play across it gives the wall depth and a fascinating look.
23. Glossy Black Herringbone
What a great way to add a bit of shine to a somber and neutral bathroom. This glossy black herringbone wall gives this modish and edgy modern bath a good perk up. So stylish and chic!
24. Black Slate Squares
Dominant, virile, and stylish. This luxurious and modern bath has a spacious shower with black slate walls and ceiling, and black pebble tiles for the floor and seat.
The chrome fittings and that wide window keep the room feeling well-lit.
25. Blue Portuguese
Colorful, intricate, and so charming. Light blue Portuguese tiles are such a popular choice for accent tiles in modern bathrooms because of their delicate details and appealing vibe.
This is the perfect accent for the flat and neutral colors of modern interiors.
26. Random Colours
The bright-colored tiles set randomly into the floor tiling give this otherwise lackluster bath a nice little perk up.
The colorful theme is highlighted by that awesome painted tile mix on the shower wall. What a fun idea!
27. Vertical Stripes
This look feels a bit nostalgic, but definitely modern. The shower has a two-tone striped wall made from two shades of subway tiles, white and blue-grey.
The result is this wistful nod to a nautical look that feels so carefree, innocent, and romantic.
28. White in Straight Herringbone
I feel like the herringbone tile pattern always delivers that chic, minimalist, and sleek look you see in today’s modern bathroom ideas.
These straight herringbone white tiles are just perfect for a modern all white bathroom.
29. Flower Patterned Floor
What a great way to jazz up a white modern bath! Just add some Spanish tiles into the mix.
The classic and arresting patterns of the Spanish tile floor give the room all the warmth and pastoral charms of the Mediterranean. So lovely.
30. Wood Themed Tiles
I love injecting rustic charms into the cool, minimalist interiors of a modern bathroom. Wood-themed tiles on the floor and an accent wall give the room such a warm, welcoming ambience.
This would be perfect for our guest cottage!
31. All in White
White is always one of the most popular bathroom ideas, and for good reason. This stunning white bathroom is made modern by its minimalist styling.
The designs and décor come mostly from the different shapes and patterns of the white tiles used. So clever!
32. Marble and Glass
The elegance and timelessness of marble and glass come together in a stunning tile design. This is how you give your bath the understated grace of marble and the sparkle of glass all at once.
33. Grey Slate
Slate is so classy and timeless. The understated beauty of the slate tile textures is really enough to dress up a bathroom all on its own.
This modish and stately grey bath uses the slate tile in so many of its forms and sizes.
34. Portuguese Tiles Mosaic
Bright colors, interesting patterns, and such a quirky look! The Portuguese tile can dress up your bathroom with so much style and charm.
I think the bold colors and patterns are a perfect fit for the starkness of modern minimalist interiors.
35. Teal in the Shower
The lovely blue-green shade of teal gives a great pop of color to the neutral tones of this modern bath.
It complements both the bright white walls and the black accents, and the teal wall provides such an interesting detail.
36. Geometric Patterns
What a way to modernize outdated white square tiles. Just add geometric patterns and prints!
You can complement the look with solid black or white walls or counters. So creative, quirky, and chic.
37. Mother of Pearl
So elegant and rich. The mother of pearl bathroom wall is the perfect accent to a classy and timeless bathroom design.
The one-inch square mosaic wall adds an interesting and delicate detail to a room of otherwise flat surfaces.
38. White and Grey Patterns
White bathrooms are always so clean, modern, and bright. For anyone who wants a fun and interesting twist on their white bathroom, adding these lovely white and grey patterned hexagon tiles can do the trick.
It is still elegant and classy, but with a touch of quirky.
39. Marble Fish Scale
I know the fish scale tile can sometimes go tacky and dated. But, this marble version of the popular design is so modern, eye-catching, and stylish.
The key is to keep the rest of the interiors clean so you don’t overwhelm the space.
40. Shades of Blue
That vintage vibe is coming in strong with bathroom tile trends, and blue shades are the perfect complement to the cool and neutral colors of modern designs.
Painting over old and outdated square tiles in different shades of blue can instantly give you a modish and beautiful bathroom. Such a great DIY idea!
