This post has been in the works for a while now. I have been collecting inspiration for years on how to mix timeless materials with modern flair, and one particular trend has really caught my eye.
We are seeing a huge surge in designers using brick to add an element of allure and texture to otherwise modern spaces. I have finally pulled together my favorite examples and can’t wait to share these incredible ideas with you guys.
1. Laidback Bohemian with Black Bricks
I really LOVE this space! It just screams free spirit and creativity, and the whole laid back living room is a total vibe.
You guys know I love a good accent wall, and there is nothing like black brick to make those bright, fun colors pop. So charming!
2. Old English Brick Splashback
This is such a perfect way to add a little bucolic touch to a modern kitchen. I love how the deep red tone of this Old English brick splashback brightens up the room’s darker color scheme.
It also perfectly complements the rustic vibe from that rough wooden table. Just gorgeous!
3. Industrial Brick Wall
Okay, can we talk about an entire wall of industrial concrete bricks? I adore this look! It’s so gray, unfinished, and modish.
To get the complete look, you’d just add some unfinished bare floors, keep the décor minimal, and finish it off with sleek industrial lighting. Perfection.
4. Modern Brick Wall Feature
What a great way to break up the monotony of a room and highlight a wall!
This contemporary foyer is so imposing and elegant. The wall of interesting brick makes it truly exceptional!
5. Rustic Brick Splashback

The bricks are lightly whitewashed and set in white cement, which creates such a warm and fascinating focal point for the room. So beautiful!

Why not take the brick designing all the way up! This Soho apartment is so cool, with a modern industrial vibe for the walls, furniture, and floor.
But that ceiling is wildly unique and vintage. I love it!
7. Modern Pale Brick Wall
There is something so soothing about this look. Brick is so classic and timeless, but it can also be totally modern and contemporary.
This pale brick wall is the perfect complement to the smooth, neutral, and minimalist room.

What a great way to dress up an entrance that might otherwise be forgettable!
These brick steps create such a nice, welcoming pile of warm red bricks and totally enhance the home’s curb appeal.
9. Rustic Country Home
This country home feels both old and new, which I love. The design and materials are modern, but the inspiration is a total classic.
You have timeless elements like the brick fireplace, wood floors, solid wood beams, and candle lamps.
Then you mix in contemporary touches like the rough bricks, wide glass walls, and floating shelving. It all comes together perfectly!
10. Charming Wall Insets
This is such a clever idea! Instead of putting up pictures and frames, you can use bricks to dress up blank walls.
I think this trick adds so much charm and individuality to the room, and it keeps everything looking exciting and uncluttered.
11. Aged Brick Wall
I love the idea of creating an interesting room by designing with a story and a bit of conflict.

It’s so interesting, dramatic, and tasteful!
29. Arched Brick Hall Accent
I am so drawn to this look! You can inject a hint of Mediterranean architecture with an arched brick feature in the hallway.
The natural grey tone complements the modern interiors, but it’s that unpolished texture of the bricks that adds so much personality and individuality.

There is something so moody and yummy about this space. I love the dull metal tones, all the wood accents, and that sombre wall of black bricks.
The dark painted brick matches the overall strong, imposing, and creative interior perfectly.
31. Red Brick Verandah Floor
Bricks are just ideal for outdoor flooring. They’re tough, eye-catching, and so easy to maintain. I love how the vintage colonial brick flooring sets off the bright white color scheme of this verandah.

The Soho apartment style is so visible in this bathroom! I love it. It’s minimalist, efficient, and has those cool industrial fittings.
And then you have the interesting pink-painted brick walls! It’s such a fun twist.
44. A Hint of Brick
Sometimes just a hint of warm red bricks is all you need to animate a very modern room.
The raw and rough red brick on the back wall of this open cabinet is so restrained yet powerful. It really plays up the cool and modern whiteness of the room beautifully.

So many modern brick designs use the unpolished, warm charm of bricks to counter the smooth and clean lines of contemporary designs.
This sleek kitchen is made totally remarkable by that edgy brick room divider. I love it!

If you find neutral colors a bit boring, this is for you! You can create a colorful bathroom hideaway with an incredible mosaic wall.
A thousand brightly hued glass bricks will turn a dreary bathroom into an exotic masterpiece like this one. So stunning!
58. Something from the Outside
Using two different and opposing design genres is such a great way to double the drama!
This highly captivating bedroom includes chic floral prints and garden-themed décor, which is so disparate from the grungy, city street style of its graffiti painted brick walls. I’m obsessed!
59. Black Raw Bricks
Rough, polished, modern, and masculine. I love how this bathroom design of stone and glass successfully combined opposites.
You have the rough and the polished, the medieval and the modern, and black and white. It all comes together beautifully.

Consider adding a tar black brick wall to your garden or patio! Black is the perfect background to bring out the brightest outdoor colors.
I mean, no other color can make the rich deep green of plants pop quite like this!
